Lesson of the month:

Durians have a high mortality rate.


Out of the 10 durians that Tim and I lugged back to his house from the nearby forest,



5 were rotten and

3 were unripe but turned out to be rotten later on.





BUT



the 2 smallest durians which were ripe, were HEAVENLY.



That was worth the whole night of scratches, waiting and being laughed at by uncles who mocked our puny torchlights while brandishing their tok kong ones


We now know why durians are so expensive.
